For higher education and further education

Policy governance for complex institutions

Giraft keeps your institution's cross-cutting policies in one place, each with its version, its review date, its approval and a record of which staff have read it, behind a tamper-evident audit trail.

Giraft is live in Irish schools. For higher and further education it is the record around the documents your institution writes: versions, review dates, approval, staff acknowledgement and publication. It does not write academic regulations, and it does not claim to.

The problem

Not a policy folder — a policy estate

Third-level institutions do not have a policy folder problem. They have a policy estate problem.

Policies are created across academic, student, HR, quality, governance, IT, research, data protection and estates functions. Without a live governance layer, institutions risk duplication, outdated versions, unclear ownership and inconsistent publication.

The burden is keeping every document current, knowing which version was approved and when, and proving it when QQI comes to review.

What Giraft gives you

One register for institutional policy

Every policy with its version, review date and approval, the comments that shaped it, and who has acknowledged it: the document control a quality office or academic secretariat needs, without rebuilding the history from committee minutes.

How it works

Map. Review. Approve. Publish. Evidence.

  1. 1

    Map

One register of institutional policy: what you hold, when each was approved and when it is due.

  2. 2

    Review

A review date on every policy, with a reminder before each falls due.

  3. 3

    Approve

Circulate drafts for comment, then record the approving body's vote by personal link. Approved words are sealed.

  4. 4

    Publish

Approved policies on a public policy page, or on a private page for staff only.

  5. 5

    Evidence

Version history, approval records and staff acknowledgements for quality review and internal audit.

The assurance layer

For the policies it manages, Giraft keeps the approved version and its date, and the audit trail shows you followed your own stated procedure.

  • One register of institutional policy
  • Approval records, dated
  • Version history for every policy
  • Public or staff-only publication
  • Evidence for quality review and internal audit

Today Giraft offers higher education a lifecycle, approval and audit-trail layer for institutional policies, with one approving body. It is not a generator for academic regulations. Talk to us about how your institution signs off its policies.

Questions

Can Giraft generate our academic regulations grounded in Irish law?

No. Drafting grounded in Irish law is built for schools. For third level Giraft manages the review, approval, sealing and audit of documents your institution writes.

Will it help with a QQI cyclical review?

For the institutional policies it manages, it keeps the approved version and its date, and the audit trail shows you followed your own stated procedure. It is not a substitute for the wider review submission.

Do you have third-level customers?

Not yet. Giraft is live with Irish schools. Talk to us if your institution wants to look at it.
